The Georgian Post has signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Levan Chikvaidze, the General Director of the Georgian Post and Mr. Levan Kakava, the Head of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance. The memorandum includes close cooperation between the two agencies in various fields, including the introduction of the Customs Pre-Declaration Program.

The Georgian Post is involved in the Customs Electronic Pre-Declaration Program within the framework of the World Postal Union project SECUREX, which provides for the advance exchange of information on postal items between the Postal Administration and the Customs Department. Within the framework of the project, at the initiative of the Georgian Post, the Quality Fund of the World Postal Union UPU provided the grant in the amount of up to 86,000 USD for the renewal of the program ASYCUDA of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of Georgia. The main goal of the project is to simplify the customs procedure for the customer, which in turn is focused on improving the quality of service and simplifying the process, as well as speeding up the permitting and delivery process, - said Mr. Levan Chikvaidze, the General Director of Georgian Post.

The program will be updated and implemented in the system by experts from the Georgian Post, Customs Department, the Postal Technology Center of the World Postal Union and UNCTAD. The test mode of the program was positively evaluated, at this stage the work on the software and technical direction continues. The program will be launched at full capacity from January 2021.

The Pre-Customs Declaration Program has been introduced in over 100 countries around the world. A number of postal administrations refuse to receive parcels without prior declaration; therefore the project ensures a safe and reliable delivery of the exchange of messages.

The Georgian Post is focused on ensuring the high quality services to customers in a short period of time, which is confirmed by the involvement in this program. High standard service and safe and timely delivery of each parcel to the recipient will ensure the success of the Georgian Post in both local and international markets.
