·        Prohibited items – items whose import into the country is prohibited.    

·        Items admitted conditionally – items whose importation into the country is allowed with the term if a document issued by the relevant authorities of the exporting country is presented.    

·        Items admitted without conditions – items whose import into the country is allowed.

Part II:
Conditions of admission of articles imported or in transit
 
1. Animals and animal products
 
With the exception of pork, horsemeat or similar meat and their by-products, the meat of other animals is admitted on condition that it is accompanied by a health certificate testifying that it is exempt from any disease and that it comes from animals slaughtered in accordance with Islamic ritual.
 
 
2. Plants and plant products
 
Admitted provided that the importer has obtained authorization from the Directorate of Agriculture for that purpose.
In accordance with the procedures applied in Saudi Arabia concerning the trade in endangered fungal organisms, inward and outward postal items containing fungal organisms of vegetable or animal origin are not admitted unless accompanied by authorization issued by the competent authorities.
 
 
3. Beverages, alcoholic fluids
 
With the exception of spirits and all intoxicating beverages, eaux de Cologne and alcoholic fluids are admitted for medical purposes after samples of these liquids have been taken and analyzed in the Ministry of Health laboratories.
 
 
4. Tobacco
 
Admitted on Ministry of Finance authorization to the importer to trade in these products.
 
 
5. Narcotics
 
Admitted only when imported for medical purposes. In such case, it is nevertheless necessary to obtain Ministry of Health authorization.
 
 
6. Pharmaceutical products
 
Admitted on Ministry of Health authorization to ensure that these products are not prohibited articles.
 
 
7. War materiel
 
Admitted when intended for the Saudi Government.

 
 
Part III:
Special provisions, Customs and other
 
1. Miscellaneous customs provisions
 
Recorded tapes ("cassettes") are not accepted as registered items, but only as ordinary items.

The following information must be provided completely and correctly on all letter-post items and postal parcels sent to SAUDI ARABIA:

 

For home delivery:

 

– Full name of the addressee;

– House or building number, street name and district name;

– Locality name, postcode and supplementary number;

– Country name;

– Sender's and addressee's telephone numbers (if available);

– Sender's full name and address.

 

  

 For post office box delivery: 

 

 

– Addressee's full name;

– Post office box number;

– Locality name and postcode;

– Country name;

– Sender's full name and address.

 

 

 



According to regulations in Saudi Arabia, addressee should pay Value-added tax of 5% on the total value of commodities/products before receiving the item, otherwise addressee can’t pick up the item. Tax should be paid by any kind of cards ( credit / debit ) or by cash at the post office, also by cash to the courier. It is essential, that each CN23 should be completed clearly and fully, including the name of the product/commodity and the total value under each item/waybill (preferably in USD).
