·        Prohibited items – items whose import into the country is prohibited.    

·        Items admitted conditionally – items whose importation into the country is allowed with the term if a document issued by the relevant authorities of the exporting country is presented.    

·        Items admitted without conditions – items whose import into the country is allowed.

Part II:
Conditions of admission of articles imported or in transit
 
It is forbidden to import any of the goods indicated below without previously obtaining a license from the relevant governmental authority and satisfying the relevant conditions. A license must therefore be obtained before importing:
 
1. Live animals
 
Live animals such as birds, cattle, etc, except where they are accompanied by a certificate, which is still valid on the date
of import, issued by the veterinary authorities of the country of origin certifying that the animals are exempt from disease. Dogs must be accompanied by a certificate of vaccination against rabies issued by the veterinary authorities of the country
of origin and dated no less than six months previously to be valid at the time of import. Animals are also subject to veterinary examination at the place of import by the relevant authorities in Bahrain and are only admitted with the approval of these authorities.
 
The import of horses is subject, in addition to the prohibition mentioned under figure 1 above, to the authorization of the Equestrian Club.
 
 
2. Plants and plant products
 
Flowers, seeds, seedlings and cuttings may be admitted after examination and authorization by the agricultural engineer.
 
 
3. Food and drink
 
Food and drink: Following inspection by the health authorities and issue of a certificate that the products are fit for human consumption.
 
 
4. Alcohol
 
Methyl alcohol and industrial alcohol: on presentation of a license issued by the Customs administration.
 
 
5. Chemical and pharmaceutical products
 
Chemical products subject to import permit pursuant to decisions taken from time to time by the Ministry of the Interior are admitted only on the authorization of this Ministry.
 
Medicines and drugs, except where they are imported through a pharmacy approved by the Ministry of Health and
on the authorization of this Ministry. Lists of goods thus imported must bear the stamp of the relevant Ministry of Health service together with the signature of the authorized official.
 
 
6. Radioactive materials
 
Radioactive materials are subject to the authorization of the Department of Public Health's occupational health service.
 
 
7. Medicineand drugs
 
The import of medicines and drugs is only authorized through a pharmacy recognized by the Ministry of Health and following authorization from this MinistryThe lists of these goods are determined by the relevant Ministry of Health service and signed by the relevant official.
 
 
8. Books, brochures, newspapers, printed matter
 
Printed matter, including video tapes: following authorization by the Ministry of Information.
 
 
9. Fishing nets
 
Fishing nets are only admitted with the approval of the Ministry of Trade and Agriculture.
 
 
10. Sound and image reproducers
 
Wireless equipment, radios and televisions, television cameras, radio and wireless apparatus used in the navy, except with special authorization from the Customs Administration or where these articles are authorized in accordance with current legislation or regulations on this equipment or a license from the Ministry of the Interior, after obtaining the agreement of the Gulf Zone's Permanent Telecommunications Committee with regard to electromagnetic waves.

 
 
11. Slot machines
 
Slot machines, except under license from the Ministry of Trade and Agriculture.
 
 
12. Miscellaneous goods
 
Goods for which there are approved agents: on presentation of a license issued by the Ministry of Trade and Agriculture or authorization by an approved agent.
 
 
 
Reservations relating to the admission of imports
 
The imports described below may be admitted only where the conditions listed in each case have been met.
 
1.  Food and drink: Following inspection by the health authorities and issue of a certificate that the products are fit for human consumption.
 
2.  Printed matter, including video tapes: following authorization by the Ministry of Information.
 
3.  Live animals and birds: Following examination and license issued by the relevant veterinarian.
 
4.  All categories of imported pearls, whether strung or set in jewellery: following examination and license issued by the relevant Ministry of Trade and Agriculture authority.
 
5.  Flowers, seeds, seedlings, cuttings, etc: following examination and license issued by the agricultural engineer.
 
6.  Any necessary apparatus or equipment and mentioned in the tables of or regulations on prohibitions, in accordance with decrees or ministerial decisions implemented by the Customs administration.
 
 
 
Prohibited articles
 
Goods manufactured in Israel or imported from or through Israel by blacklisted firms or companies.

 
 
Part III:
Special provisions, Customs and other
 
 
1. Drawinuof customs declarations
 
Customs declarations must contain the following information in particular:
 
–   Name and address of sender and of addressee.
 
–   Country of origin and country destination of the item.
 
–   Indication of the goods contained in the item.
 
–   Gross weight and net weight.
 
–   Value of the item specifying the currency used.
 
Lastly, the Customs declaration must contain additional information about the goods in order to meet Customs regulations (gift, sample, goods on loan or temporary admission, sender's signature).
 
 
2. Provisions on infringements
 
Customs infringements in relation to postal items come under the general legal provisions concerning the Customs service.
